My name is Douglas Lakota and I am an artist based out of Southern Maine. I am currently attending the University of Southern Maine as a BFA student in the Digital Arts. I will graduate in the fall of 2008.

Statement of Intent

As I mature as a visionary artist, I increasingly recognize how spirituality has almost always been at the mercy of cultural and religious institutions looking to commandeer the world views of vast populations. As a result, we have all but been deprived of direct access to experiences of the deepest reaches of the ground of being.

In my work, I strive to provide visionary imagery that will spur individuals towards an inner journey, exempt from subversive religious influence and abuse of universal archetypes. In doing so, I hope to dissolve the cancerous boundaries in our psyches that deny the infinite nature of our innermost being.
